Traveling with Children Part 2

Last time we spoke, we were taking a look at traveling with children. While there is some extra planning involved, traveling with kids can be a rewarding experience (yes, even for you the parent)!

Picking up where we left off in part one, let’s talk about a few more practical tips about traveling with children:

5. Make a list of the “must have” items that your child could not live without…I’m talking about favorite snacks, juice, toys etc. Depending on your final destination, these items may or may not be available or may be difficult to get so a little advance planning goes a long way. You can order the items and pack them in your suitcase or you may even be able to have them sent to your destination in advance

6. Don’t forget about bottled water. I know this sounds like a no-brainer, but remember how important it is to have access to water for your child. Children can dehydrate fast so stay ahead of this by making sure that you have a good supply. If you are visiting an area when you are not able to drink tap water, your child will also need access to water to brush their teeth etc.

7. Consider packing a medicine and first-aid kit, enough said

8. Just because you are traveling with children does not mean you cannot get out and explore! If you are thinking of doing any excursions at your destination look for ones that are family-friendly. You may want to consider tours with transportation and/or meals included. If you prefer walking type tours, think about how you will navigate rest breaks and the possibility of “tired little legs”

9. If you are looking for “adult-time”, many resorts and cruises have a dedicated “kids club.” While there may be age considerations for this service (and usually there is a fee) it is worth researching this options for those who are interested.

10. Don’t forget to take plenty of pictures!

I hope that these posts have inspired you to consider traveling with your littlest family member. If you are thinking about traveling with children (of any age) let’s talk and plan something that will be a blast for everyone! :-)

Yours in Travel,

Sincere
